FVSE’s main current project is the annual Sruighlea Festival [Sreee-lie] that incorporates Stirling Highland Games plus a Foodie Festival, Activities Challenge (with Active Stirling), On the Fringe, Walking Tours and Sruighlea Sessions.
Held on the third Saturday in August at the Borrowmeadow site behind the Stirling Sports Village, this is a growing event that has become Stirling’s annual cultural outdoor event.
FVSE secured the license to run the games in 2014 and has built it up from humble beginnings, to a festival that attracted over 5,000 visitors in 2018.
As well as providing income to support the employability support work of FVSE throughout the year, the Festival also provides an opportunity for some trainees to put their learning directly into practice. The 2018 event had the services of 72 volunteers, 20 of whom came through Academy opportunities and were supported to put their core skills training into practice through general volunteering and also by learning historical information about the games and its location to share through walking tours.
